This one day course is the perfect introduction to basketry, or development from a beginner’s course, and you will go home with a stunning willow handbag or shoulder bag made from beautiful willow and incorporating a variety of weaves and basketry techniques.
Woking from a pre drilled wooden bottom the difficult job of ‘upsetting’ (putting in the upright stakes evenly spaced) the basket is already done for you. You don’t see the base and those of you keen to develop your sills may wish to add a foot border later in the day. You will spend the day learning weaves and finish off with a delicate border and then decide to add a leather strap or hazel handle.
Please note you need some level of manual dexterity in your fingers.

Please let us know if you have any specific requirements or needs. All materials and tool use are provided for you on the day. Refreshments and biscuits throughout the course. Please bring a packed lunch, notebook and pen and wear suitable clothes for working outdoors.
Refundable up to two weeks prior to course (minus £30 admin fee). No refunds for cancellations within two weeks of course. All adult courses are for 16 years or over.
